The Queen star Dame Helen Mirren was not amused by the original Arthur movieinsisting she didn't find Dudley Moore's legendary role "remotely funny".
The Oscar-winner was the surprise choice to play loyal valet Hobson in the remake of the 1981 comedy classic alongside British funnyman Russell Brandwho will provide his own portrayal of Moore's beloved boozy socialite.
And the actress is adamant the new adaptation will not tarnish the original's popularitybecause she found the story of a diminutive alcoholic a bore.
She tells Britain's Daily Express, "I just didn't think a film about a drunken small guy was remotely funny. The reality about alcoholics is that they're boring and tedious."
